Idiot Alert Files Welcome Brittney Simpson

19-year-old Brittney Simpson of Kitchener, Ont., is the latest friggin' idiot to be welcomed to the ranks of the brain-dead. Little Miss Brittney is facing assault charges after an Olympic torch bearer was knocked to the ground by her this morning in Guelph, Ont. Cortney Hansen was carrying the torch at about 7:50 a.m. today when protesters, including Simpson, confronted her in front of approximately 1,000 people. After Hansen was knocked to the ground by Simpson, the mental midget, she was treated by torch run medical staff at the scene before she continued her part of the torch run. The torch was not extinguished in the fall.
Simpson is part of a protest group known as AW@L, who are protesting the flame passing over native land. They are indeed correct when they state on their website that "The truth is that this country’s relationship with Indigenous Peoples is shameful." What I don't quite understand is how Little Miss figures knocking down a torch bearer will do anything at all to correct the problem. She and the other members of the group don't seem to understand that they are winning no supporters at all for their cause by seeking to disrupt the torch run and indulging in less-than-peaceful means to do so.
"We understand that the Olympic Games are a high profile event and will attract attention and that people have the right to express their opinions," said Jim Richards, director of torch relays, speaking after the incident. "We ask that they do so peacefully and respectfully." Unfortunately, the "peacefully and respectfully" part seems to be just too complicated and advanced a concept for the grey-cell-challenged Simpson.

Well, I suppose this proves it: white guilt is a form of mental illness. When will these self-proclaimed radicals realize that they continue to alienate people from their cause, and is usually the case with radicals, once they alienate too many people, they will resort to violence in order to intimidate people to subscribing to their agenda. If they're so upset about the privileges they have living in a "colonial" society, by all means they can find somewhere more in-line with their anarchist beliefs... Might I suggest Yemen?

I am a big supporter of native rights and Canada needs to do a hell of a lot more to redress past injustices (settling land claims would be a good start) ... but Canada is, Canada, now. There is no going back. Protesting at the torch relay does nothing to win support. It didn't work with the Chinese Olympics, it won't work here. In fact, it has already divided the native community. What do they think it's doing with the general population?

For those non-natives that are a part of the protests -- you can do your cause a favour by getting the hell off native lands. Leave the country. Yes, Yemen would do just fine.

if you have read all the articles you'll realize their is an investiagtion going into whether she actually pushed the torch bearer or not. many reports from witnesses, activists, and the original reporter who took the photo on the national post, all say Hansen tripped over an officer's leg. while i do believe it is wrong for them to get physical with the protest, until they prove she attacked simpson atttacked hansen, i wont condemn her

Look into media more, assholes.

Not everything they tell you is the truth. Don't just blindly believe. Research.

I'm sorry, but have you read this blog, Anonymous? I mean, the whole thing; all one thousand, one hundred and eighty-one articles. I haven't even read the whole blog, but I do know that hours of research went into them ... seven years of research, actually.

I haven't read all the articles about the incident, either. Have you?

Also, "until they prove she attacked simpson atttacked hansen" is really well written. Or should I say writtten? "you'll realize their is an investigation" ... And you, Anonymous, will realize that there is a lovely little book out there called "The Elements of Style", by Strunk and White. You might find out which there to use, and when to use it. It's called style. Swearing is also style. Libel, actually.

Libel is a "false or malicious claim that may harm someone's reputation. If false, malicious statements are published in mainstream media (i.e. on the internet, in a magazine, etc.) then it is classified as "libel"." That information I got from research.

I am interested in hearing your account of the story, which I am sure is more accurate than any media outlet could provide, so go ahead, shoot. What happened? I would also like references to the sources of your information, sited in MLA style, unless you are the eye-witness to the events yourself. Do you actually have a more accurate story than the media does?

I wonder if you could tell me a few things about this Brittany Simpson. What Native blood runs through her veins? Was her involvement in the protest a fight for her own land to be returned to her? Why was she even (trying to get) close to a torch bearer? If she is not a Native herself, then she is, just like the rest of us; living on stolen land.

IF she did push down a torch bearer, why did she do so? What did Cortney Hansen specifically do against Natives? Maybe Hansen had personally been looking forward to this event for a long time, and had been excited about the opportunity to bear the torch - did she personally deserve to have her run ruined?

Once again, I invite you to read at LEAST as much of this blog as I have, and where that is not a lot relative to the total number of articles on this blog, it might teach you a few things about religion, recipes, staying fit and fundraising while doing so, tigers, idiots, and, not to mention, research.

Have fun, dear Anonymous!

And by the way, there are many very nice Anonymouses (Anonymousi?) that are out there; I am sorry for the few idiot Anonymousi that post comments on this blog and give the nice Anonymousi a bad rep!

And here's a link - http://no2010.com/node/295

It's also media. Have you read this blog? Maybe after reading every article in this blog, you might be tempted to join their (or there!) cause. Lend your grammar to a good cause.

For the record for all those who found this story of interest, Brittney Simpson had all assault charges against her dropped today. She, and other protestors are only being charged with mischief. Yet everyone was already to condemn her and call her an idiot when she ALLEGEDLY did it. Besides, by the sounds of it, the protests out in Vancouver are nothing compared to this little stunt.

hey she was found innocent! charges against her were dropped...before calling her an idiot and welcoming her to these idiot files, maybe you should make sure she did what they claim did, gets prosecuted, before saying such things
