Canada stands triumphant. 3 to 2 over the Americans on the Olympic Hockey ice has shown the world once again just exactly whose game hockey really is. To acknowledge that point, President Obama will pony up with a case of Molson Canadian beer for our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper. The two had a bet on which nation would take the Olympic Hockey gold, and the beer was the ante. The beer was chosen supposedly for its symbolic value, since Molson is North America's oldest brewery, founded in 1786 by John Molson. Had the Americans won - as if! - Harper would have had to deliver a case of Yuengling beer from the States' oldest brewery, founded in Pennsylvania in 1829.
Enjoy the beer, Obama. Enjoy your second-place silver, America!
